Listed by Virgin as one of Australia’s Top 5 New Getaways for 2014 and awarded the Best Tasmanian Indulgence Accommodation by Stayz – the Library House offers guests a truly unique and inspirational stay.
The Library House combines a welcoming Federation home with superb design and the ultimate position to become one of Hobart’s finest Luxury Boutique accommodations. (See Media for the Virgin top 5 listing of Library House.)
Library House is situated in West Hobart just three minutes by car or enjoyable walking distance from the centre of Hobart and Salamanca waterfront. With some of Hobart’s most spectacular views of river, mountain, bridge and city from almost every window.
Library House is a decadent indulgence for a couple wanting more than a hotel, and can also accommodate up to eight guests.
Library House has a minimum two night stay so you can really unwind and discover all the pleasures of Hobart and beyond.
Each of the five bedrooms is named after a Southern Tasmanian icon.
The Derwent Suite has a King Bed (or two long singles), en suite, walk-in robes and private balcony with spectacular views making this one of the most memorable bedrooms to lay your head in.
There are two further charming upstairs bedrooms – the Mt. Wellington Room that can be configured as a King Bed or two long singles, and the Bruny Room with Double Bed and all the charm of an attic retreat.
Off the Wellington and Bruny rooms is the second upstairs bathroom with a separate shower and spa and a view that also vies for best in the house.
The downstairs Salamanca Room is quiet and secluded for restful nights whilst the MONA Room has gorgeous views of the Tasman bridge and Derwent River. Both downstairs bedrooms have Queen Beds, ultra-high ceilings, ornamental fireplaces and share an elegant shower and bathroom.
With three separate living areas, even eight guests have ample space to relax in style. Take in the magnificent view from the ultimate kitchen/dining/living room with its floor to ceiling glass, flooded with sunlight from a clear Tasmanian sky. Curl up with a book from the downstairs library (that gives us our name), where you’ll find shelves stocked with titles to engage and inspire; or chill in the media room in front of an open fire on a winter’s evening to truly enjoy some movie or sport heaven.
Throughout its two storeys, the walls of The Library House are hung with the original artworks of some of Tasmania’s finest artists, and showcases a collection from the nearby Handmark Gallery in Salamanca. The house is a true art and book lover’s paradise.
Balconies front and back together with a gas barbecue and incredible views make al fresco dining on the deck an inspiring summer experience.
The house is fully insulated and double-glazed with heating options in every room plus a heritage open fire.
Landscaped front and rear gardens contain apricot and apple trees, abundant rose bushes, cottage garden flowers, raspberry canes and herbs – pick whatever is in season.
Beginning its life as a Federation cottage, The Library House was built in 1900 and has been an elegant home that’s witnessed the stories (both ordinary and extraordinary) of many families for over a century. Today, The Library House features a contemporary addition designed by award winning architect Andrew Williamson, to create an exceptional fusion of old and new.
But it is the incredible position for exploring everything Hobart has to offer, the unrivalled views and warm welcoming elegance of Library House that promises to makes this indulgent experience in Hobart, one you won’t forget . This is truly Tasmanian Luxury Boutique Accommodation at its best.
